Welcome to Stroomversnellers!

These times call for a rapid boost (in Dutch: Stroomversnelling) in the fight against growing inequality, racism, and the continuous stretching of ecological limits. Since 2013, through our training and consulting, we have supported thousands of social changemakers in:

  • strategy, movement, and organizational building
  • meeting facilitation techniques
  • action skills
  • sustainable activism

We believe that social and ecological justice, true democracy, and equality can only be achieved through powerful social movements. But changing the world is not something you learn in school. That’s why a group of experienced change-makers, with backgrounds in various movements, founded Stroomversnellers.

From NGOs to social movements or small groups of passionate activists, each organization is unique, and each campaign requires different insights, tools, and skills.

The trainers from Stroomversnellers guided us through the process of strategic decision-making in a clear and structured way. They quickly understood the dynamics in which FairWork operates and were able to actively contribute to our goals and strategy. For us, the power dynamics analysis method was both innovative and insightful.

As a student movement, we received training on decision-making: an insightful day where we examined the many different aspects of facilitation. This helped us better understand how decision-making processes unfold within our own movement and provided us with tools to improve our meetings. We also became more aware of internal power structures within our movement and have since paid more attention to them. All of this was taught in a playful, interactive way, making the large amount of content engaging rather than boring. In short, it was a successful day.

Together with Stroomversnellers, we organized many workshops, panels, and discussions for the 2.Dh5 Festival. Thanks to the large pool of experienced, critical, and enthusiastic facilitators and moderators, we were able to turn to Stroomversnellers for the various festival themes. This improved the quality of our program and allowed us to transform dialogue and discussion into practical tools for action.

With the help of Stroomversnellers, we have quickly grown as a collective in terms of collaboration. The trainers from Stroomversnellers have focused our attention on areas we hadn't made space for before, such as our internal dynamics. By listening attentively and providing tailored advice, Stroomversnellers' training has taken us a step further in working together effectively and sustainably.

The Stroomversnellers trainers have prepared hundreds of people for their participation in mass civil disobedience actions, such as for Code Rood and Ende Gelände. Without those trainings, our actions would never have been as successful.

I now have the inspiration, motivation, tools and (new) network to get me where I need to go!

Stroomversnellers brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. For our team, a mix of people with and without facilitation experience, they provided a safe practice environment where everyone was able to take away valuable lessons. It helped us as an organization to understand what is needed to deliver effective training and boosted our team of trainers with more confidence.

Extinction Rebellion Nijmegen increasingly faces hate reactions on its social media. Through the Regeneration Circle and the Training Circle, we ended up at Stroomversnellers. Robin and Peter supported 15 Nijmegen climate activists in the "Resilience Against Online Hate" training, helping them deal better with online hate and protect themselves more effectively. We were given plenty of space to share and came up with a new approach for the Nijmegen Climate Alarm (a recurring monthly action). We decided to share the action on socials but immediately ask many people to respond with positive messages. The training was incredibly engaging and relevant, and it's definitely recommended for other activist groups as well.
